Bonner Springs Rotarian Glenn Harte recently shared his experiences from a Rotary service trip to Guatemala, where he helped install water filtration systems to provide families with access to cleaner, safer drinking water.
For Glenn, this was his sixth service trip of this kind. “Every time I go, it reminds me of why I’m in Rotary and gives me a fresh perspective on life in general. Service Above Self!” During the trip, volunteers installed 100 water filtration systems in two to three communities, helping families gain access to potable drinking water in their homes.
When asked about the most rewarding part of the experience, Glenn pointed to the gratitude expressed by families as the filters were installed. Knowing the difference clean drinking water would make for their families made the experience especially meaningful.
Glenn’s story is a wonderful reminder of how Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self makes a difference in communities around the world.
