Big Month for District 5710 Foundation Committee and your clubs.
First, the District Grants committee meets to review all the club grant applications and allocate the District Designated Funds. This year it will total over $64,000 of funds distributed to your clubs for your great local projects.
Second, the Global Grants Committee will start allocating funds as well. We have the blessing of several clubs who are working on our own district initiated global grants and we are eager to support them to our maximum ability.
Third, PolioPlus remains our Rotary-wide strategic focus. Only Afghanistan is reporting cases of wild polio transmission. A District 5710 team is going to India in October to help with immunizations.
Fourth and Fifth, our global Scholar is returning to Ireland for her second year of studies; we have a Peace Scholar nominee that has cleared the first hurdle in this highly competitive process.
And sixth, the committee has set big, hairy audacious goals for all the Foundation elements. Please help us achieve them.
Your contributions to any of these efforts – local, world-wide, Polio – save lives and help bring lasting peace. That’s why we nag at everyone: Please contribute to the Annual fund, PolioPlus and the Endowment Fund, in addition to your local support of your local club efforts. About half of our district Rotarians support one or more of these three efforts. Image what we could do if all of us donated just $100 a year for each fund!
