Anti-Human Trafficking Committee Update

The committee is working with the Shawnee County DA’s office to enhance our chances of passing legislation to make buying sex a felony. Most of the work is going on behind the scenes and we will provide an update when we are able to do so.  In the meantime, we suggest you encourage your clubs to collect winter-related items: hats, gloves or mittens, scarves, hygiene items, high energy snacks, etc. to donate to your local human trafficking survivor support providers.

Also, please check out the notice from the CAAHT Club in the Newsletter. It is called New Beginnings: Postpartum Care for Mothers. The club is asking for donations of infant board books for the kits to encourage literacy. The CAAHT club assembly day is November 19 at 5 pm. Kits will be distributed through the maternity wards and Topeka Doula project. For more information please contact Patti Mellard at patti@keystaffing.com or text 785-640-9999.
