Recap of July Activities

President Caroline Webster presents her discretionary grant money to the Lansing & Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Departments and the United Way; all funds will be used to support youth programs in our communities!

President Caroline presents her President’s Award to long-time Rotarian Karel Sigtenhorst for his twenty years of service to our club as our Sergeant at Arms. Incoming President, Greg Nash, congratulates outgoing President Caroline Webster for her wonderful year leading our club; he also presented her Past President’s gavel and name tag at a recent meeting.

Rotarian Tom Gray receives the Mayor’s Award for his work on behalf of our club keeping 20th Street Traffic Way pristine! Our club hosted a non-perishable food drive in support of the Catholic Charities Food Pantry; thanks to the community’s generous donations, we collected 1703 pounds of food items and $600 in cash donations; this is an on-going effort which happens twice a year.

Our club made a donation to the VA Domiciliary in support of their Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP); a program about the MHRRTP was presented at a recent Rotary meeting. Recently, two delegates from Leavenworth/Lansing completed the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Program hosted by Rotary International District 5710 and University of Kansas; shown here left to right are Olivia Sweeney (Leavenworth HS), Madelyn Genge (Lansing HS) and Tamara Sevcik, District 5710 RYLA Chair.
