A recap of the May activities of the Manhattan Club.
OxiClean, water, and baby formula — oh my! This month, the Community Cares Chest received 19 pallets of OxiClean valued at approximately $72,000. More than 60 nonprofits picked up products during the month.

Common Table has also been added to the Manhattan Rotary Club’s list of service projects. Six to seven Rotarians volunteer on the second Tuesday evening of each month, serving as security staff, food servers, dishwashers, bussers, and beverage attendants.

The Bill Snyder 1/2 Marathon and 5K is now in the history books, with more than 1,600 participants. Seventeen Rotarians and one potential Rotaractor staffed the water station near the final lap.

Big Check Cup funds were presented to John Blair, director of the Konza Prairie Biological Station, as well as Emily Wagner and Emily Hrabik of the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.
New members who joined in May included David Janasek, owner of Powercat Computers and MHK Tabletop, Dr. Ari Jumpponen, Division of Biology, Ellen Meyer Jumpponen, real estate agent, Sandy Myers, Event Management and Planning Hilton Garden Inn, and James Wiser, Dean of K-State Libraries.
Celebrating Rotary anniversaries: Bill Varney (66 years), Brice Hobrock (40 years), Mel Chastain (38 years), Brad Roberts (38 years), Jim Wright (34 years), and John Armbrust (26 years) — a combined 242 years of Rotary service.
