Let's have some fun - AND do some good!
Worldwide polio eradication is Rotary International’s premiere public health project – and we are so close to being finished! In 2026, we have seen only 4 cases of wild poliovirus, so far.  Like in many projects, that last mile is tough!  The remaining countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan have rugged terrain, conflict, monsoons, earthquakes  with approximately 8 million children born annually.  Rotary International is committed to seeing this project to completion, to make the world a safer place for children worldwide. When we reach eradication, and only then, we can stop using the polio vaccines and put all of the resources of PolioPlus to other public health issues.

Here are some ways for you to support polio eradication - and have fun!

Change for Change: Turn Global Currency into Polio VaccinesClubs are collecting the foreign currency that members have in their pockets and luggage after returning from an international trip and donating it to PolioPlus.  What foreign currency is buried in your junk drawer? Your club presidents, polio and foundation chairs have the details.

Kansas City Monarchs Baseball Game: June 19. This will be a Rotary family night at the ballgame, with tailgate, games, food, beverages and skydivers. There is also the opportunity to live out your dream of being a baseball star and throw out the first pitch! Donations for the tailgate party, first pitch auction and a portion of the ticket sales all go to PolioPlus. Are you hosting international guests for FIFA games?  Bring them to experience a bit of Americana!

Game tickets and first pitch auction are here: https://onecau.se/_hst6v1

National Immunization Day in India:  Oct 22-28, 2026.  This will be a great week of experiencing Rotary in India, seeing some of the Indian culture and assisting in their National Immunization Day for polio.  There is even a scholarship available to assist someone to go. Currently, there are seven people from D5710 registered plus 2 people from Canada.

Thank you to all of you who so generously support PolioPlus.

If you can't make it to India, then I hope to see you at the Monarch's game!
