The Gardner Rotary Club kicked off the new year with a group activity led by club President Tim Brady. Using a puzzle theme, small groups created their own Rotary puzzle. Each group shared their ideas which led to one big puzzle being created that represents everyone’s vision for the club (see pictures). The puzzle will be a driving force throughout the year as our club makes decisions and stays focused on who we are.
The corner pieces are the cornerstones of our club. The four corners are: service, community, friendship, and teamwork.
The boarder pieces are what provides the club stability and strength. Examples of boarder pieces include: communication, collaboration, club foundation, membership, relationships.
The center pieces are how our club wants to look like and feel like. Many adjectives were generated which included: impactful, inviting, unified, authentic, purposeful, growing, engaging, and many more.
Have you ever worked on a puzzle and you come up missing one piece? Well, that’s the other part of the puzzle project. Each member is an important piece to our club. We aren’t whole when a meeting or activity is missed. Everyone is important. Finally, the puzzle represents our cohesiveness. Our combined efforts achieve more value and effectiveness than the isolated sum of its individual members (Gestaltism). We are better, TOGETHER.
