Trailblazers do love to travel! A couple of our members spent two weeks in Oban, Scotland enjoying the food, drink, islands, and local sights of western Scotland. Including a raft race held by the Rotary Club of Oban Scotland!
Meanwhile back home for our July 7 meeting, members heard a report from Chloe Lewis – the student our club sponsored for this year’s RYLA in Lawrence. Chloe was fired up about her experience and is anxious to help us identify another student for next year’s event.
Trailblazers were a bit adventurous, naturally, for our July 21 meeting and a field trip to Atlas9 in KCK (near the Legends mall). Atlas9 is “an immersive narrative experience set in a transformed 90’s movie theater where scenes from forgotten films come to life.” Everyone has fun socializing and some of us even figured out what they were doing! Afterward, members enjoyed a beverage and snacks while just enjoying each other’s company.
Coming up in August: Trailblazers will visit Golden Scoop, an organizations many of us supported in the past; we’ll have a park clean-up morning at Sar-Ko-Par Trails park in Lenexa; and hear from member Dianne Daugherty about her recent trip to Japan as our Trailblazers club begins to build a relationship with the Maebashi West Rotary Club. Dianne happened to be there for their 3,000th meeting celebration!
