Polio Plus
A Year of Impact and Progress
As another Rotary year has come to a close, we celebrate the incredible commitment of the Rotarians of District 5710 to the fight against polio. Through fundraisers, special events, direct giving, and countless acts of generosity, our clubs and members once again showed the power of Rotary working together.
A special thank you goes to every Rotarian, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter who contributed to PolioPlus this year. Your generosity is helping protect children around the world from a disease we are so close to eradicating forever. We have met our goal of donating $120,000 to the PolioPlus fund this year.
One highlight of the year was the District 5710 PolioPlus fundraiser night with the Kansas City Monarchs, which raised more than $2,000 for PolioPlus while bringing Rotarians together in fellowship and fun. Thank you to Ken Selzer as the First Pitch auction winner, to Roger Aeschliman for stepping up to sing the national anthem, and to the rest of the folks who made the tailgate a fun gathering.

The impact of Rotary’s work continues to be seen worldwide. In 2026, there have been only nine reported cases of wild poliovirus — three in Pakistan and six in Afghanistan. These numbers remind us that Rotary’s commitment is making a difference and that we are closer than ever to a polio-free world. We cannot stop now!
Thank you for making this year such a success. As we look ahead to the coming Rotary year, we are excited for new opportunities to grow our impact, strengthen our fellowship, and continue supporting Rotary’s mission to End Polio Now.
There is still time to sign up to participate in the National Immunization Day in India this October. Join Rotarians from D5710 to work alongside Rotarians from D3110 in India, and do the hands-on work of Rotary’s global polio eradication efforts.
Together, we are making history!
